Shakedown
In American slang, the word 'shakedown' means an attempt to squeeze money out of someone or some organization by nefarious means. For example, threatening to sue a company for some questionable reason, then trying to negotiate a monetary settlement to cause the suit to go away is a kind of shakedown.
